SETDAB Conference 2023- Diverse Experiences of Domestic Abuse

This year’s annual conference will be held in person on the 24th November 2023, leading into the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.  This launches 16 days of activism which concludes on the 10th of December — the day that commemorates the International Human Rights Day.

Target audience:  Frontline workers and managers – those working with victims, families and perpetrators of domestic abuse.

Learning objectives:

  • Improve knowledge and understanding of the different experiences of those affected by domestic abuse.
  • Improve knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and multiple disadvantages.
  • For learning to be shared and applied to practice within organisations.

Speakers include:

  • Lived Experience– Ruth Tansey, Forward Trust & Essex Recovery Foundation
  • Domestic Abuse in Later Life– Rebecca Zerk, Deputy Director for the Centre for Age, Gender and Social Justice, Aberystwyth University
  • Coercive Control & Young People- Carole Gould mother of Ellie Gould
  • Male Victims/Survivors of Domestic Abuse- Lees Marks, Author of Break the Silence – A Support Guide for Male Victims of Domestic Abuse
  • Young People’s Journey and Voices- Jo Cuming, Tony Brennan, & Bryony Nancollas- Goodman & Sisters in Strength

The conference is free of charge to partner agencies across Southend, Essex and Thurrock but late cancellation or non-attendance will incur a fee.
